GP and Surgeons Working Together

Dr John McAvoy completed the 24 hour ten-tops triathlon in the Lake District. Probably the hardest and most scenic triathlon available in England.

It involves a 2 mile swim across the widest part of Derwent water in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley. A 101 mile bike ride over the six high passes of the Lake District, including the awesome Hardknott with its 30% incline. And finally a run, walk and stagger of 45 miles round the four highest mountains.

In the spirit of surgeon and GP corporation, he was supported during the bike ride by Joe Garcia, One Health Group Hand Surgeon. Joe declined the early morning swim and the through-the-night run... GP's are obviously made of sterner stuff!

There were minimal rest opportunities during the bike ride to achieve the target of completing the event within 24hours. These 5minute rests were scrupulously monitored by GP Nick Hudson.

GP Nick Hudson, Dr John McAvoy & OHG Surgeon Joe Garcia take five.
