Nehemiah Samuel

After graduating from India, Mr Samuel pursued his surgical training in the UK starting as a clinical demonstrator for Imperial College, London students. He has subsequently trained at Hull, Huddersfield, Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley. He has completed the Royal College recognised Bariatric Fellowship at Sunderland Royal Hospital. He has been working as a Consultant General, Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital since Oct 2019.

Mr Samuel's main clinical interests are minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for gallstones, hernias, anti-reflux surgery, weight loss and metabolic surgery. He has a strong academic background with a MD awarded for one of the first randomised trials comparing laser versus conventional surgery for small saphenous varicose veins.

Mr Samuel has been extensively published in peer reviewed scientific journals, including a book chapter. He has extensively presented at national and international forums including winning multiple awards and travel bursaries. He shares a passion to teach and train the next generation of doctors, and is a training faculty at multiple courses & workshops, an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Sheffield, and the undergraduate GI lead at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
