UpgradeMr. Bobby M Siddiqui is a Consultant in Trauma and Foot & Ankle surgery at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
His current practice is split between general Orthopaedic Trauma (as part of a busy major trauma centre) and elective foot and ankle conditions, with a particular emphasis on arthritic conditions and total ankle replacement. Mr. Siddiqui hopes to bring a professional, holistic, down-to-earth approach to treating foot and ankle conditions. He is an advocate for working in close partnerships with patients and colleagues to provide a bespoke service.
Originally from London, Mr. Siddiqui completed his undergraduate degree in Human Biology and Anatomy from Kings College. This introduced him to the musculoskeletal system and developed his desire to pursue a career in Orthopaedics.
He then moved to the North-East to undertake his medical training, in collaboration with both Durham and Newcastle Universities, graduating in 2006.
Mr. Siddiqui was awarded a national training contract in Trauma and Orthopaedics, and completed his training as a Speciality Registrar in the East Midlands (Leicester) Rotation. During which he was able to work with nationally and internationally recognised foot and ankle surgeons, including Miss Patricia Allen (past-president of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Society).
Mr. Siddiqui attained his FRCS (Tr&Orth) qualification in 2018 and subsequently completed his surgical training by gaining his CCT in 2020.
To further expand his foot and ankle knowledge, Mr. Siddiqui completed his Fellowship at Nottingham Hospitals, working with Mr. Martin Raglan and Mr. Sunil Dhar (past-president of BOFAS). This fellowship had an emphasis on Total Ankle Replacement (both primary and revision procedures), which Mr. Siddiqui hopes to bring his experiences to serve the population of South Yorkshire.
In August 2022, Mr. Siddiqui was appointed a substantive consultant at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, dividing his time between the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospital sites. Working within a highly respected and internationally recognised Foot and Ankle Team (including Mr. Mark Davies – Current President of BOFAS); Mr. Siddiqui manages complex foot and ankle trauma cases, in addition to complex cases as part of a tertiary referral centre for hospitals around the region.
Since his appointment, Mr. Siddiqui has developed, led and managed a network of foot and ankle surgeons from 10 regional hospitals. This has been a forum to discuss complex foot and ankle conditions, with an aim to improve outcomes for patients in these challenging cases.
Throughout his medical career, Mr Siddiqui has published on a variety of foot and ankle topics in national and international journals, has contributed to award-winning medical textbooks and worked on a number of quality improvement projects to enhance the patient journey through the NHS.
He is passionate about medical education, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, regularly giving up his time to help train future orthopaedic consultants attain their FRCS (Tr&Orth) qualification. He also trains soon-to-be Foot and Ankle surgeons, as part of the prestigious Sheffield Foot and Ankle Fellowship.
In his spare time, Mr. Siddiqui is an avid fitness enthusiast, using his own health journey to educate and mentor others in achieving their goals. He is also keen in the role that future digital technologies will have in the health and financial sectors and is passionate about improving financial literacy to his junior colleagues.
