Ahmed Eid

Mr Eid completed his Undergraduate training at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 2003 and was awarded MBBCh (Hons).

He completed a Residency training programme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Ain Shams University Hospitals, Cairo, Egypt in 2007, for which he was awarded the Masters Degree of Orthopaedic surgery, M.Sc (Ortho).

Mr Eid undertook a two 2-year Musculoskeletal Reconstruction Fellowships in two centres of excellence. He spent two years at Korea Cancer Center Hospital in South Korea and 5 months at Munich University Hospitals (LMU), Germany. He published several scientific articles and obtained M.D. (Ortho) from Ain Shams University, Egypt.

Mr Eid undertook five years of Orthopaedic training in the UK from 2010, during which he obtained FRCS (Tr & Orth).

Mr Eid undertook a 15-month Shoulder Fellowship at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital with Mr Richard Hartley.

He then completed a prestigious 1-year Fellowship in upper limb reconstruction and sports medicine at the PanAm Clinic in Canada with Prof Peter MacDonald, the president of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association at that time.

Prior to working as a consultant, Mr Eid undertook a Trauma Fellowship at University Hospitals Coventry with particular emphasis on the management of upper limb trauma.  

Mr. Eid always aims to provide the best quality of care to his patients. He regularly visits centres of excellence such as the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA, Wrightington Orthopaedic Unit and Sheffield Hand Centre.

Mr Eid has been on the GMC specialist register for trauma and orthopaedic surgery since January 2017.

He has been working as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, with special interest in upper limb surgery, in the NHS since October 2017. He was practicing in the Yorkshire region for 3 years and moved to UHMBT in August 2020.

Mr Eid has a strong interest in research with multiple National and International presentations and several publications in peer reviewed journals.

He appreciates the importance of teaching, and is actively involved in the provision of the departmental teaching programme for junior doctors.
