At One Health we aim to do the right thing not just for our patients but for our employees too. We are proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer.
The Living Wage is independently calculated each year based on what employees and their families need to live. The rates apply to all workers over 18 – in recognition that young people face the same living costs as everyone else and employers choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis.
We were keen to become an accredited Living Wage Employer. Introducing the Living Wage was not only the right thing to do for our employees; it also makes good business sense for One Health. This is a long-term investment in our people based on our values and our belief that a team with good compensation and working conditions is in a position to provide a high quality efficient service to our patients.
Last week in celebration of Living Wage Week, we spoke to members of our team about the effect that the Living wage has had on their lives and what the Living wage means to them.
The Living Wage really does make a big difference as it has given me the opportunity to afford to go travelling to Australia and New Zealand. Without this it would have been a real struggle to save money as well as paying a mortgage and monthly bills. Being employed by a company that has introduced the Living Wage to its team is uplifting, knowing that they value you as a member of staff and your contribution to the workforce is being appreciated.Francesca, Spinal & Neurosurgical Team.
Being paid the Living Wage means a lot to me as I am looking to buying a house in the near future. The Living Wage means that I can save more each month to be able to put a bigger deposit down, meaning I will have a cheaper mortgage. Also, I travel a fair way to work and so being paid the Living Wage, along with enjoying my job at One Health Group, means that I don’t mind travelling that bit further to work each day.Rachel, General Surgery, Gynaecology and Urology Team.
As a working mum being paid the Living wage means that I can support my family and afford childcare costs. Working for a company that pays the Living Wage has made me feel like my work and time is appreciated and like a valuable member of the team.Nicole, Patient Liaison Team.
